Catch up.....

Back in Oct 2014, I said we had got my DH's mother interested in quilting after gifting her a quilt.  Well she has certainly been busy.  So far she's made 33 quilts.  Some are lap quilts but most are either double or queen size,  All of these have been gifts for friends and family, including a quilt for each of her grandchildren for Christmas 2015.  And I received a lovely surprise, a lap quilt for me for Christmas.  Unfortunately, the cat got there first, but I have wrestled with him and its all mine now!  Isn't it beautiful:

I have been busy sewing since my last post in Oct 2014, and will show some of the things I've made,  but I also have other news - we're now grandparents to a lovely baby boy, off course, I had to make a quilt - unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the completed quilt, so this is it as a WIP:

 I also made a few burp cloths and a nappy cake and a nappy bike

Long time........

Well, really didn't mean to leave it so long, but, life and work, sometimes get in the way......

Anyway, I've still been busy crafting and have so many projects on the go.  And unfortunately I have to admit like many quilters, I have built up a bigger stash of fabric and equipment than I ever imagined I needed.  But still managed to convince myself I needed some more fabric, so drove through to Scarborough a couple of weeks ago to visit my favourite fabric shop: Scarborough Sewing Centre

Latest acquisitions:

Lovely Michael Miller fabric - too nice to cut up, so I plan to use this as a backing.

And a quick photo of just how full of fabric their shop is:

Nearly halloween

As we're nearing halloween, Spotted Cat is practicing his Dracula pose.  Not sure who he thinks he'll scare - he'll be safely tucked up inside once it gets dark!
That's the only problem as the nights get colder, my cat thinks he has been alone all day while we're at work and so deserves to sit on a warm knee all night.  Its not easy trying to sew, or update a blog on a computer with a big bundle of fur on your lap!

Long time.....

Well, no idea where all this time has gone.

Now, I never planned on routinely blogging every week/month, more likely to blog when I had something to remark on, but I never thought the gap would be this long.....

So, a brief update on a couple of things since January 2012 follows and I'll keep adding updates:

I did my first ever craft stall, but as it was at a local bowls club Saturday morning fund raising sale, not sure it was the best place, but at least I sold some things and it did give me ideas for future.

~~~~~~~~~~~
 I made my first ever quilt.  I chose an easy pattern, (railway tracks) and used a jelly roll to create a lap quilt, which I finished in September 2012.  This was a Christmas gift for my DH's mum.  Thankfully it was much appreciated, so much so, that we now buy quilting fabric, books etc as gifts for her to make her own quilts - She's more obsessed with quilting than me now, I think we've created a monster!
Quilted Christmas Stockings
Looked so easy on the tv programme when Kirstie made one, but took ages for me to make them.
I decided to make new stockings for all the family this year.  I didn't start until the beginning of December and so was being a bit too ambitious!  Only managed to finish 5 before Christmas, and have 5 plus 2 spare ones still to finish.  Will post photos of them when they're completed, but in the mean time here are 4 of the 5 I completed.
